Privacy and network removal
What a MeshTap collects
A MeshTap records only information that WiFi access points broadcast publicly in their beacons: the network name (SSID), the access point's hardware address (BSSID), its security type, channel and signal strength, together with the time and the MeshTap's own position when it was heard. It does not capture, store or upload the contents of any network traffic.
Who can see it
Uploaded data is shown only on the uploading device's private map, which is reachable only through a link held by that device's owner. There is no public map, directory or search.
Keeping your network off MeshTap maps
Networks whose name ends in _nomap or _optout are discarded when data arrives.
You can also ask us to remove a network by its BSSID. This deletes every stored sighting of that BSSID and discards it from future uploads.
